Welcome to
"Tuesday's Treasures". This week I want to share with you a quilt. Now this isn't my quilt. My sister Chris left it with me to finish. Her friend Lisa found it at a Hospital op-shop for only $5.00.
It is a nearly finished Double Wedding Ring Quilt. Most of the quilting is done. I will finish that and add a binding to the edge.
Going by the colours in the material I think it is likely that it was started in the last 15 years.. I wonder why this treasure was given away. It will be turned into Lisa's treasure soon.

It is a lovely! What a great find with most of the piecing done! I reckon you are right about the age ... and perhaps it was not finished because the marriage ... dis .. so ...lv ... ed.

This is definitely a treasure! I can't believe someone parted with that quilt, especially unfinished. Sure wonder the back story of where it came from. I'm sure you will make it beautiful and use it well!

As an antique dealer, I've come across many unfinished quilts. I think it's wonderful that you are taking someone else's project and finishing it properly. I'm sure the original creator would be most appreciative!
Lucky you, try not to think about it's past life. Just imagine a wonderful one for it.
I inherited a DWR UFO but unfortunately mine is still a bag of cut out bits plus some rather largish pieces of fabric. I don't think the original owner was a quilter and she chose this as her first project!
You do have to wonder why people give such lovely things away don't you? Still I think it will look wonderful when you finish it.

Certainly is a treasure and thank goodness it has found a new home with people who will love (and finish) it.
I've had a few finds like that and always wonder how such things can be sold so cheaply considering all of the work that has gone into them - I recently found two big tapestries in a charity shop for £1 each which I intend to make into cushion covers.... lucky for us but still a bit sad that they end up there.
