"Rose Woolen Blanket and Paris Stitch-along."

Hello,

Happy Monday.;

This woolen blanket has been a UFO for quite a few years. I had made a start on the machine embroideries and left it at that.

I think the problem was I was nervous every time I was embroidering it. I was still nervous last week when the machine was sewing the extra designs that are from the designer Sue Box..

So instead of doing the embroidering straight onto the fabric. I decided to find some rose quotes and embroider them onto rose fabric.

I even put some  hearts on the back of the blanketing along with a label. These were made smaller and placed behind the hearts on the front. These were a bit of a test run when it came to choosing thread colours. As the blanketing is quite thick I was able to blanket stitch around the edges and the thread didn't show up on the other side.  I chose some calico fabric for the binding.

I recently joined in a Cross Stitch-along that is being run by Kat. There were several different designs to choose from. I chose the Eiffel Tower. This is part one.

Now I wonder what is next on my "to do" list.

Happy days.

"Eclosion de rose/Blooming rose."

Hello,

Yesterday I put the final few stitches on the large flower of the "Eclosion de rose" cross stitch.

This was a free pattern from the DMC site.

The blooms do look very realistic.

Can't wait to get this one framed.

I had a "happy moment" this morning. I received a lovely rose themed Mother's Day card from Bobbie Lynn.

It is now next to my sewing machine so I can admire it some more, then I will use it as a bookmark for my rose books. Thanks so much Bobbie Lynn it was lovely to receive some mail sent with love.

The olive pickling is an ongoing process at the moment. This lot is from the tree down the front. Had to do a ring around for big containers.

I finally got the hems done on the little premmie dresses which I made last month. They have been posted and received.

Pink Seduction has to be one of the best roses for repeat flowering and the blooms lasting a long time in the vase. These blooms were picked at the beginning of last week and are still going strong.

It was so lovely to stay inside on the weekend and listen to the rain falling. The garden and tanks certainly needed it. Couldn't put a spade into the ground on Friday now it is all lovely and soft.

This week I will be working on another rose themed project. This one is from my pre blogging days. There has been a long wait for this UFO to be finished. Have you got any/many projects hiding in your home?

Happy days.

"The perfect Mother's Day present for your children."

Hello,

Happy Mother's Day,

This year I decided to give a little gift to each of my children.

I am sure they will appreciate the time it took to stitch out each tea towel.

Nearly an hour of stitching in each towel.

I was attracted to the rose in this design by Urban Threads.

The words I fell in love with!

I also stitched up a hand towel for the kitchen with a design that I have had for many years.

Total cost of this years presents for my children $4.00 for a pack of towels. Their reaction will be priceless.

Have a great day.

Happy days.

"Roses and a Scrappy quilt."

Hello,

Growing roses is one of my most favourite things in this world. I added a few more to the garden recently.

Princess Alexandra of Kent.

Of course they were David Austin Roses, this one is called Princess Alexandra of Kent, isn't she so pretty and the perfume is delightful.

Stitching roses is fun too.

This  cross stitch design  has 5 roses in different stages of bloom. Have nearly finished the second rose, just need to stitch the stem

The scrappy quilt is now finished.

The backing includes the embroidery design of the cow being taken away by the aliens! Plus I machine embroidered/appliqued Kainga.

I used a Brother embroidery card with Red work designs for the quilting. Plus a rose design and feather design that were freebies from the Internet. Around the border I chose a design from the decorative stitches that are on my machine which I hardly ever use.

The sun is shining here this morning after a cold start to the day, what is the weather like in your part of the world?

Happy days.
