Hello,
Well, blogging has taken a back seat here at Kainga. Not long after my last post I managed to damage my camera. It is being fixed with a new lense. I found my old camera and charged the battery. I certainly will be using the camera strap in future.
I was recently asked to do some sewing for a Mum to be. I was given the fabric and the links to some patterns etc.
I found a few more patterns on the net and had a great time creating shoes. After initially finding one of the patterns a little hard to understand the "aha" moment clicked and I was away.
None of the patterns had any sort of wadding in between the two layers for the souls so I used up some wadding scraps and quilted them together.
The other link I was given was for a cover for a "Baby Bjorn" unfortunately this one I had to cover was different to the linked item. The straps for doing it up were in a different place. So I had to custom make it. That weekend newspaper came in handy for drawing up templates. I also had to make two bunny rugs. I was given two rugs that the Mum wanted to be made double so the baby will be warm. I did that and machine embroidered hearts to quilt them together. The other items sewn were two bibs including four Bandana bibs and as there was a strip of flannelette left over I made these into two face washers.
Every now and again I find a bargain in the local Good Sammy's especially when I am looking for something completely different. I picked up two balls of 8 ply cotton. I made up two face washers using different patterns from one of my crochet books.
A pinch and a punch for the last day of the month.
Happy days.

Love those baby shoes! Everything you have sewn for the mum-to-be is fantastic. It was one thing I really enjoyed while pregnant with our first was all the knitting of booties, hats, mitts, jackets and when we the first arrived smocked dresses etc. Such fun sewing and knitting and so useful too.
