Hello,
This week I planned to get into the sewing room each day. Today I spent plenty of time un-sewing. Gosh putting one half of a block the wrong way up was causing a huge problem. Of course it all fell into place once I had worked out what I had done wrong. The next block came together in a matter of minutes. I am working on a quilt which has 16 blocks in the centre.
The size of the completed blocks is 9.5 inches. I have made ten so far. Hopefully tomorrow will be a un-sewing free day. The blue fabric in the block above is some Indigo fabric that came from the Stone Store in Kerikeri in New Zealand. It is such a beautiful fabric, I love the smell of it when you iron it. This type of fabric will age beautifully.
Yesterday I received some lovely mail all the way from America.
It was the most useful light a Beam N Read. I was the lucky winner from
Jocelyn's blog "Happy Cottage Quilter." Thanks so much Jocelyn. If you haven't read her blog make sure you do. Thanks also to Beam N Read. I found another use for this light. It would make a great light for a home made light box. Using LED lights it doesn't heat up. The
Beam N Read is so light and only takes 4 AA batteries to run it.
I hope you have a wonderful Friday doing something you love. I will be in my sewing room.
Happy days.
Bev C

At least you spotted your mistake. I have sent my block and one of my followers noticed my mistake on my post. I guess the recipient will have to unsew it.
Very useful win Bev.
Darn, un-sewing is no fun, especially with such small pieces. Sounds like you are still making lots of progress on this project. It's going to be quite cheerful with the blue and yellow you're working with! Congrats on your win - looks like a handy light to have around.
Your blue block is lovely, I am going to Kerikeri this summer, I didn't know it sold fabric!! I love your Welcome cross stitch in the previous post and the beautiful journal cover too.
Kerikeri maybe thats where we should go for our family summer holiday! The block is lovely... looking forward to seeing the rest. Have fun sewing :O)
That blue fabric is so pretty.
Must be the week for unsewing...I had to do some yesterday too.
lovely block, I love that blue fabric. It is gorgeous.
Hope you don't have any more unsewing to do.
I will have to remember that unsewing word, sounds better than the term I use. And it's consoling to know that even sewing whizzes like you have to do it sometime! I hope to have a break from making Christmas decorations and do some sewing this weekend.
Good luck for a no "unsewing" day today Bev. Congratulations on your win.
I love your block Bev and the blue fabric is so pretty, congrats on your win, lucky you, enjoy your weekend Bev
Rubbers are on pencils for mistakes pity the sewing machine doesn't unpick--- probably in another age it will. Your Welcome is really welcoming
So glad that you will enjoy the light. It's an amazing light, especially for those who have vision problems.
Happy 1st December my dear Bev. Sorry I missed a few of your posts. Have a lovely weekend coming - Hugs Nat
Don't you hate that!! It's a lovely block Bev, with some good memories...
