Yesterday was a computer free day, I was planning to join in Tuesday's Treasures but the weather controlled what I did. I woke at a quarter to five to a double rainbow outside and the blackest skies. The rain came then left us for a while. So I washed windows floors and curtains and cooked cakes etc. All the while there was lots of lightning around the place and huge claps of thunder. Bonnie came home at lunch time and showed me a photo of the hail that had fallen at Dowerin. It was the size of golf balls. In the afternoon I decided to wash the patio table and chairs and generally wash down everything along the patio and back verandah. Ian rang to say that a huge storm had just gone through his workplace. By then it had started to rain here at Kainga. Well within minutes you could hardly see anything outside the rain and wind had come. We had 18mls of rain in a very short time, maybe 5 to 10 minutes if that. The road down the bottom looked like a river and a small river was running down the side of our block. The hardware store in the main street got struck by lightning and the Christmas decorations in the main street came down. The Shire will be busy over the next couple of weeks cleaning up the roads and broken trees. Today the sun is shining and everything looks clean and fresh though there are more weather warnings today. At least we weren't one of those who were stuck on the tarmac at the Perth airport. Passengers had to wait up to 8 hours on the planes after landing because of the lightning. It wasn't safe for them to disembark.
Hope you have a great day, we are here at Kainga.
Happy days.

Sounds like you got lot's accomplished... stay safe with all the wild weather...
I heard about the airport troubles on the news this morning.
Raining heavily here today ... no going outdoors ... oh well I'll have to sew ;)
Enjoy the sunshine.
What a frightening afternoon. I'm glad everyone is safe. The sunflower is such a happy flower.
Weird weather. Glad you are safe & sound. Love the sunflower. Need a bright flower on this gloomy, rainy day. Hugs,
The weather sounds bad. Hope your patio stayed tidy. We have rain and only 23 up here in Brisbane today. We are freezing :) I love the sunflower.
Oh what a lovely border you've planned. Love it!
Merry Christmas :)
What amazing extremes you have in your weather in WA!? Great day to be at home by the sound of it.
Loving your happy looking sunflower too.........
I love seeing your garden - you have a particularly lovely flower growing there at the moment. 'grin'
I agree with Melody about your garden...you even get fabric to grow flowers. Glad all was well with you throughout the wild weather.
mother nature can be so cruel...it is wet season here so pretty much 6 months of horrid storms that turn the power off yuk yuk yuk...love your sunflower, well done.Saw on the news the passengers were not happy about waiting-would of been hell I think, cheers Vickie
Scary weather! It's nice to see you made something beautiful!
That sounds dreadful. Glad you are safe. Do you still have private water reservoirs?
Hi Bev,
Sounds you did a lot of house keeping. Good to hear that you got some time for some sewing. What adorable sunflower. Like the colors of your blocks. You must have an amazing assortment of fabric. How fun. Wow, a whole lot of weather in one day for you there. Good to hear all is well there.
Have a beautiful day.
Blessings!
Sounds like you had quite a productive day, amidst all those storms going on around you. Those kinds of storms usually happen here in spring (April-May), and I love watching them. Adorable sunflower block! I love how tall it it.
You have had a taste of everything with the weather. I thought only Melbourne was supposed to do that!
You were also very productive for the day. It's a good sense of achievement when that happens.
Love the applique you are doing.
You had a very busy day despite the weather! I love the sunflower.
Weather is always such and unpredictable thing! Love the sunflower! blessings,Kathleen
