Hello,
Just letting you know I can't decide what to do for
Friday-Night-Sew-In.
Finish the patchwork cushion or some crochet. Maybe both.
Meanwhile....

Quince Cydonia oblonga. |
This Quince and many others are simmering on the stove. Making some Quince Paste. First time I have made it. Rather time consuming seeing you have to stir the pot for 90 minutes!!!! I think I will have a book on hand to read. Using a recipe from the Country Woman's Association that Lucy gave me for Christmas. I did find other recipes where you didn't have to stir for so long but they used kilos of sugar. Where as this one only has 4 cups. Much better for the waistline.
Back on the weekend with my sewing results from the Sew-In.
Happy days.

I hope to see you at FNSI too! Will have to decide my project as well! Decision... decisions... ! :)
Have fun making the quince paste. Its delicious....especially with a good soft cheese.
Be careful while stirring when the mixture gets thick. It gets a bit volcanic and can spit very hot liquid......I have the scars! Use a long handled spoon.
oooh.. thanks for the reminder about FNSI..... quince paste ... yum - I love it with cheese... though it took me ages to eat quinces having been 'forced' to eat bitter stewed quince at boarding school!!
Hugz
Quinces fresh from your garden I presume, they look yummy but I have never tried one...they are not readily available here.
As for the decision why not a little of both!
I can't decide either. I'll find something from the UFO pile for sure. I recently bought quinces & made quince jelly(first time ever making quince jelly). I was hoping the fruit shop still had some as i wanted to try making the quince paste. But no such luck. :( Hugs,
Enjoy your Friday night which ever way you decide to spend it :)
Your crochet is a lovely shade of pink.
My Friday night's keep clashing so maybe I'll get to join you for June's FNSI.
Yes, work on both projects!
And are you making jam with the Quinces? Have to google to find the Dutch name again. Found it: Kweeperen. We used to find these fruits and my mother made jam with them. I remember they were very difficult to peal.
I guess I understand why you have this tree in your garden: it is from the rose family (o:
Have fun deciding Bev...quince paste...what fun...I love it with cheese and a glass or 2 xo
either project sounds fun. Maybe you will have time to finish both?
Stirring for 90 minutes? definitely get a book or put in a movie if you have a TV in your kitchen. BTW< what would you do with quince paste?
Wow. 90mins of stirring... good workout for you arms I suppose.
Haven't decided what to sew on FNSI either but will be in Perth with my DD2 sew we willstich together.
I have never tried quince. Do you make pie or jelly with it? Can't wait to see what you have created!
