"A rather appropriate quilt."

Hello,

I only realised while filling out some forms today that it was October, not sure what happened with the last couple of weeks. Though there has been plenty of gardening, lots of weeding to get ready for the hot seasons ahead and most importantly spending lots of time with the Grandie's. Nothing is better than spending time with little people.
I did finish and hand over the quilt for my niece. I am so glad to have  been able to use up some of the fabrics  I had been saving to make a quilt for her. My nice is into horses and owns several and has worked at cattle feed lots in the past.

As it has to be made in a few days I kept it very simple with strips of fabric and nine patch blocks. The colours don't show up well here due to the weather on the day I took the photo's.

I found this freebie embroidery design for a cowboy boot, I increased the size a little to help with the quilting.

This is the back of the quilt. Now she must have loved the quilt so much because she is shifting back to Western Australia!

Now I must be good and go and take a look inside the sewing room instead of just walking by. I am sure I started a new project a while back. Haven't even been sewing in the evening, I have been reading a book about a couple who have renovated some old homes in Australia. The history involved with our early homes is something that I enjoy reading about. The book is called The Constant Renovators by Marie and Dominic Romeo. Are you reading something you love at the moment, I would love to hear about it.

Happy days.

What a fun quilt! I bet your niece just loved it. Most girls who are into horses love anything with horse-related designs. I just started to read the book The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver, which my mom said was an excellent read. I'm only on page 18 but so far so good. (the description says it's about Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo and so much more.)

Great finish with the quilt. I can imagine all the work needed in the garden at this time of year.

Such a very cool quilt for a horse loving gal! I was wondering where you had got to, Bev. That book does sound like a great read. I love the old houses dotted around the Australian landscape. Living here in Tassie there is always one on the radar. I am reading 'Letters of Note' which is a wonderful book of a compilation of letters written by the famous, the not so famous and the infamous throughout history. It is such a good read. Have a great week. =)
