"Friday Night Sew In" 365 quilt and a Sunflower Tablecloth completed."

Hello,

Last night I joined in Friday Night Sew In hosted by Wendy. After seeing Nat's great circle quilt on her blog and a bit of prompting by Nat I started a new quilting project.

My 365 circle quilt.I have chosen to use up lots of calico and homespun in cream and white for the main fabric. These are cut into 4 inch squares. My template for the circles comes from the top of the ironing aid spray can. I am using easy fix to attach the circles to the fabric and will stitch them on by hand with buttonhole stitch. A great project to work on every now and again.

A while ago I was given this sunflower fabric and matching brown fabric and told to make something with them, the person purchased the fabric from Good Sammy's. The sunflower fabric was already cut up into the not quite squares. One side was 1/4 inch shorter than the other. Not worth worrying about cutting off. I added the sashing from the brown fabric and joined them.

The plan was to make this into a tablecloth  so I used pellon for the wadding. As the owner loves gardening I purchased two sets of garden embroidery designs from Kreative Kiwi. These were stitched so that each person sitting at the table would have a design facing them.

In the two central blocks I stitched two different quilting designs. I used Robinson Anton threads to do the machine embroidery. I added the brown wire fence fabric for the binding and used a little piece in the backing as there wasn't quite enough of the brown fabric.

It certainly feels good to have finished the tablecloth and it has been delivered to the owner. That's one less bag of fabric in the sewing room.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Happy days.
Bev C

Thats amazing what you did with the sunflower fabric Bev ... I think the tablecloth is just perfect for a gardening friend. Your circles will be quite therapeutic to blanket stitch around I feel.

I also spent Friday with a group of quilters, sharing our projects and giving each other inspiration and encouragement. So nice to know my blogger friend on the other side of the planet found the same satisfying hours as I on the same day. Lovely work, Bev. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the circle project!
