"Friday Night With Friends."

Hello,

I joined in Friday Night with Friends hosted by Cheryll. I know I am a little late reporting in.

I did a little work on the  Amish cross stitch I recently started. This one is 14 count aida so I don't need a magnifying glass to see the stitches. So much easier than working with linen.

Now I was hoping to show you some of my goodies I did at a Fermentation class that I and my daughter were booked into today. Unfortunately it was cancelled again. This has happened two weeks in a row so we won't be trying a third time. The class sounded a lot of fun and involved making your own Kombucha tea and Fermented Vegies as well as using Kefir grains. If anyone has made any of these things and have some wonderful hints please let me know.

The bees will be keeping out of the garden in the heat of the day this week we are in the midst of a heatwave. At times like this I am so grateful we don't live in a concrete jungle and have a lovely green garden to look out upon.

Hope everyone has a great week. Stay cool if you are in Western Australia.

Happy days.
Bev C

Great start on your cross stitch :)
My friend made fermented cabbage and has talked about the tea but not sure if she made it.

What a cute little cross stitch project! So lovely to see your beautiful rose since our gardens are dormant in the Northern Hemisphere right now.

Lovely project - and I really like your scissor fob!! Your rose looks beautiful. It makes me long for warm weather.....in the minus digits here today with wind chill. I"m staying inside and stitching

Your cross stitch is lovely. I can only stitch on aida I get so lost with linen. Shame about your class. After the heat and humidity of last week here I don't envy you.Hope you can find a cool spot to wait it out xx

LOVE the x-stitch, Bev! If you lived close to me, we'd sit on the porch and stitch together. Whenever I think of getting out my x-stitch to get started on a project, I think of you.

I asked my daughter if she had any tips for you, and i hope she'll get back to me so I can let you know. She's made Kombucha before (but I can't drink it myself).

Hi, Bev,
14 count is my go to Aida cloth size. I've tried smaller but find dealing with the tinier stitches a roadblock to the relaxation which cross stitch usually brings me.
Do you have Amish in Australia? We live in the county of our state that has the highest Amish population and the next nearest town has the most Amish of all the county. I am fortunate to have several Amish friends, especially the family that built my chicken house.
Fermentation is very popular here. There are often classes offered and our local food co-op sells several products of local artisans. I'm sure you're disappointed that the class has been cancelled yet again. It's always fun to do something new with your daughter's company. Hope you'll have a chance again soon.
Temperatures due to be below zero F here tonight and several nights this week. I'm not sure I'd trade for your heat wave, though. The ground has a good foot of snow on it and the drifts are beautiful. Happily the sun is shining today despite the cold.

14 count is usually as small as I go with cross stitch as well, will look forward to seeing some progress shots and take care with all the heat you're experiencing :) Barb.

Oh the summer, your flower is like a tease as I sit here in a very wet UK. We don't seem to have good summers anymore - fingers crossed this year there will be enough sun for my garden to bloom.

Sorry your class was cancelled - I wouldn't go again either.

Great stitching on your Friday project x x

Cute little stitchery. 14 count sounds like it would be a dream to work with. I hope the heat is not getting you down too much!

You have been having quite a hot spell. Lovely to see your cross stitch.
What a shame about the classes, but I agree about not bothering again.

Hi Bev,

Love the Amish cross-stitch and that will be wonderful when finished.
Shame the class was cancelled - and maybe doing research on line and with help from others, hope you can do it yourselves.
The rose is pretty - my two are flowering now beautifully even though I thought I had lost them. Had to prune then back and fed them with rose food.
Hope you are managing to stay cool and enjoying the weekend
hugs
