"Growing Luffa, a new book and a finished cross stitch."

 Hello,

I hope your week has gone well. This week I picked our first Luffa from the garden.

I had been waiting for one of them to dry on the vine, I have a little while for the one in the photo to dry out. When they are brown on the outside and dry you pick them then peel of the outer layer. Leave to dry completely and remove the seeds from inside.

You are then left with a lovely luffa to use for a body scrubber or for scrubbing dishes or even put a little in your soap making. The bonus is I have lots of seeds to share. When the luffa are small they can also be eaten, very similar to a zucchini I think.

Back in March when I saw that my favourite gardener Sophie Thompson from Gardening Australia was publishing a book I decided to treat myself.

I even got her to sign it for me. My Friday nights are always spent watching Gardening Australia. Now that it goes for one hour it is just delightful.

I managed to finish a cross stitch this week, a simplistic design but I still had to do some unpicking.

Are you a book buyer? What was your latest ?  I would love to hear all about it. Nothing better than a good book of your own.

Happy days.
Bev C.

Hello,

Have a great weekend. Remember you only need two things in life a garden and a library and you are set.

Happy days.
Bev.

We have some luffa seeds which I think I should have already planted, however I was worried that It has not been warm enough. I love books - our house is full of them! xx

Isn't it great that Gardening Australia is now on for an hour! I too love this show. I totally concur with you that one is pretty set in life if you have a garden and a library burgeoning with books....but then there is also...quilts, fabric, chocolate............! =) Have a fabulous weekend, lovely Bev.
