"Out of the Box and a Secret Garden."

Hello,

Happy Monday.

Late 2013 I purchased the book "Out of the Box with each blocks fun with free-form quilting" by Mary Lou Weidman and Melanie Bautista McFarland. Last week I bit the bullet and made up the quilt called.....

"Freddy Feathers Baby Chick. I started by doing the chickens comb and continued from there. After some initial hesitation with the free-form quilting it was actually a lot of fun making up the "hoochy angles" of the different pieces as I went along. The two fun thing about this type of quilting is that the shapes and sizes of the pieces are different on each and every persons quilt and the  new quilting terminology like the word Hoochy.

I have also  finished the Secret Garden pincushions which came in a kit which I won from Anthea a while ago. These ended up being a good size pincushion at 7 inches square.

Now I had better go and search out some backing for the chicken quilt. What are you sewing this week?

Happy days.
Bev C

Hello Bev,
Thanks for your wonderful comment on my blog.
Awww, what a sweet looking "Freddy Feathers" quilt. Those pincushions are so lovely. A very old fashion look to them.
I hope to post soon the dress I sewed up and also maybe start on another one, a different pattern view.
That's right, your going into your winter weather. You have a lot of roses too. Thank you for sharing your projects.
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend too.
Blessings,
Bobbie Lynn

I wish I could visit you more often Bev, I find so difficult to blog around these days.
So much to see and admire in your Blog. Those cute chicks and pin cushions!
That sweet Blanket with Hearts..., those gorgeous Tea Towels for your children, those tiny dresses and those incredible Roses Cross Stitches! all so perfect.
I always show to my Jimmy your garden and he gets green of envy heeeeee this time he was even more jealous when he saw those bottles of olives right from your garden.
A profound admiration from the 2 of us.
Love, Dolly

Love the chicken quilt and adore those gorgeous pin cushions! I have actually missed sewing lately until I attacked the pile of mending. I think it dented my creativity a little lol. Must get back to my embroidery when the house is settled again.
