"Happy Monday."

Hello,

Happy Monday.

I was given this unusual thread recently. As the ball had some of the thread used I decided a Face washer would be perfect. I had two goes at making it, first time I had too many chains and it was rather short and wide. So undoing about 7 chains and it worked out fine. I can see why this thread was given away, it twisted so much while crocheting, it was rather like crocheting a long shoe lace. Some home made cinnamon and clove soap and it makes a present to put away.

The sewing machine cover was taken off last week and some sewing was done. I recently purchased this Little Digger fabric from Patchwork on Avon in York earlier on this month.

I made Jacob a pencil roll for his Birthday. After making it I showed it too Lucy and she said he received one for Christmas. Oh well, you can never have too many of these sort of things.

It is Jacob's Birthday this week. We had a party in a park not far from his home. Ainsley did a fantastic job on his cake.

Our local library has a fantastic range of books, unlike a few years ago you battled to find or even order a decent book. This one caught my eye last week. The Invisible Girls is a true story.Thoroughly recommend this book. You begin to realise how lucky we are and it gives a great insight  into being a refugee in a brand new country.

Have you read any great books lately?

Happy Monday.

Hi Bev, grand idea with the flannel. Love the pencil case and I bet he likes this one the most. Diggers plus you made it.
The book looks very interesting. I don't seem to have much time for reading as if I do I use the time to read my Christian living books. Might need to try and make more time...I wonder if you can make it on the sewing machine lol.

Great idea for our thread - a facecloth and handmade soap is a beautiful gift. A lovely pencil roll, always useful and what a fantastic cake.

Facecloth and soap is the perfect gift. A great way to use that thread. One can never have too many pencil rolls! Love this one! Wow on the cake! Thanks for the book update, sounds very interesting. I'm currently reading 'Flood of Fire' by Amitav Ghosh, it's the last one of the 'Ibis Triology'. The story takes you to India, Mauritius and China. Love his books!

Sorry but I have no time for books these days - even though I belong to a book club. I listen to books on tape instead. If you like mysteries, the Louise Penny novels are wonderful. She is a Canadian writer and I loved The Beautiful Mystery. It's about a murder that takes place on an island that houses cloistered monks.
What a great idea for using up some yarn and I really should make one or two of those pencil rolls for the grandchildren.

great work on the pencil carrier for Jacob, Bev - I'm sure it will get a lot of use!

I've just finished a book - yes it's 'great' in its own way - "Where's Daniel?" the story of Daniel Morcombe. Devastating & uplifting.

Hi Bev, that book looks great. I will check to see if we have it in my library. The pencil roll is great for gift. I made one for the members of my craft group a few years ago.

Well done on sticking with the crocheting. Great gift. And the pencil wrap is lovely too.
Enjoy your book.

Crocheting is wonderful - I can't stitch a stitch using a crochet hook. I really like the pencil roll. Awesome.

That pencil case is a good idea. Love Jacobs birthday cake, that's very clever. Will pass that on to my daughter in law for her boys.
