There is nothing quite like Telstra playing up, that's OK as last Friday I was planning to spend sometime looking at blogs but with no Internet service this was put on hold. Instead I ventured into my sewing room and had a bit of a look through drawers and de-stashed a few patterns which I know I will most likely never make again. In one of the drawers was a pile of calico and homespun in assorted sizes. A plan was hatching.
After using my hexagon shape punch to make some hexies from old photocopied patterns, a sort through fabric and now I have a new project.
The best thing about a hexie project is the hand sewing. I love hand sewing much to some people's disgust. Why is it that a lot of patch worker's only use machines and detest hand sewing. Maybe someone can do a University thesis on this subject!

Happy days.

Wow, this is absolutely beautiful. I do agree with you, there is nothing like hand sewing. So relaxing. I also love embroidery. Looking forward seeing some more of your hexagons.
While hand work is nice, I'm not a fan of hexagons. I admire those that do work on them but it's just not for me. I love your header photos of all the gorgeous flowers.
Love your hexie flower. I love to do handwork. Sew relaxing , Hugs,xx
Always love a Hexie project!
Love the idea of the embroidery in the centre, very clever
The pink gingham is so old fashioned and gorgeous
Ooooh....gotta love a hexie project. I love this one you have stitched. Hand stitching is the best as one can take it wherever one goes. Be careful now, as hexies are addictive. Happying hexi-ing, Bev.
Very pretty look forward to seeing your progress !!
Nothing wrong with handsewing/stitching. I just can't sit and do nothing. I love how you incorporate machine embroidery.
you can waste your whole life away with Telstra............nice sewing though
Ditto with Telstra! I love your hexie project. I love handstitching too x
HI Bev, oh i love to do both - machine & hand - so then i can sew ANYWHERE!!
very pretty work there, & thanks for linking up x
Great new hexie project....good idea to do a stash buster. I like hand sewing and machine sewing , just depends what I am wanting to do!!
I had no idea what Telstra was so had to look it up. Yes, there's nothing like networks being down or total power outages to get us back to working with our hands. I've been in the midst of my new year's resolution to use what I have. This includes going back to old projects that once seemed so interesting but somehow got lost in this shuffle called life.
I've never been into hexies with fabric, though I have done many crochet hexagrams which started with a Mary Jane Butters pattern in one of her magazines, MaryJanes Farm. I love how you combine techniques, piecework and embroidery as here. So cheerful.
Lovely..I'll be interested to watch your hexie designs grow...

amaxing how much we can accomplish when the internet is down.... maybe it should be obligatory sometimes? I love how you are going with your hexagons... brilliant idea...

This is looking good. I think it is a lovely plan.
Clever idea to put some embroidery in the middle. Well I love hand sewing - why is it that there has to be such a rush to make things these days. So lovely to spend time and appreciate what you are doing. xx
