"Love Is...."

Hello,

Today I will share several finishes for the month of April, hopefully they have got to their destination. I won't be putting up the new owner's names just in case.

First I finished the "Love Is" pincushion. I won this kit from Patti, it was the first time I have stitched on 32 count which I enjoyed doing.

 Patti blogs at Stitching in Lobster Land. This project also involved working with wool. I loved stitching this piece together. It was also the first time for a very  long time that I did Herringbone stitch.

 These 6 machine embroidered place mats were made up and posted. I just had enough of the black/white Nutex fabric to get some of the borders done. There was a bit of adjusting two pieces, they weren't quite a quarter inch seam. I purchased the blue fabrics for these so managed to use up some of that. I bought that from a local lady who has her house set up as a shop in several rooms. Very handy to go and visit when I need something. The bindings are a Henry Glass fabric which I had in my stash and rather appropriate name wise!

 I machine embroidered three little Lavender Bags for Jacob. Used up some of the checked yellow fabric that was in his baby quilt.

Now my last post titled Free Hugs was actually a little social experiment of mine. I have borrowed this wonderful inspiring DVD from the local library. It is all about how we have the power to change the world. My idea was to offer a "warm and fuzzy" type post and see what people would do if I offered free hugs. I love what everyone wrote in the comments section. In fact it had the desired effect that I thought would happen. I was especially impressed by what Deb did.

I didn't hug anyone, but I had a strong feeling that I needed to do a random act of kindness today. After a few minutes thought, I took one of my cute little fabric boxes that I made back in January to the lady at the corner shop I've been going to for years. She loved it and offered to pay me...silly lady!!It was a gift just because. xx Debbie Love your roses too :)

I have also finished the Church House Farm Cross Stitch but forgot to take a photo of it before I dropped it of at the framers. I have a few more projects that are nearly at the finishing stage so during May hopefully I will have the chance to finish them.

"A Magnifique Paris Easter Weekend."

Happy Monday,

I found this super quick cross stitch to make.

 This time I used Cosmo threads, which are just so lovely to stitch with and 25 count even weave. The free cross stitch pattern was designed by Kim who blogs at Wisdom with Needle and Thread.

 Thursday evening I realised it was time to make a batch of  Hot Cross Buns. So much nicer than store bought ones. Though the Chocolate ones that Ainsley and Julian brought with them on Sunday didn't last long either.

 Lucy made this cake especially for Bonnie. A double layered Chocolate cake with so many calories, we didn't even try to work that one out.

Happy Child and Charles Rennie Mackintosh Roses.

I have been picking a few roses from the garden. These ones are "Happy Child" which is the yellow one and the pink one is Charles Rennie Mackintosh .

Now this weather we have been having is lovely but the garden would really love some rain. 16 mls for the year is certainly not enough. I haven't even put in any Winter vegies yet . We have lost lots of plants over the Summer/Autumn, ones that I thought were really tough like Wormwood Rosemary and several Plum trees and Prunus Nigra's have gone to garden heaven. In the meantime I have been burying the food scraps with a dollop of Dynamic Lifter to build up the soil and try to get some moisture into the ground. The soil is so water repellent at the moment.The joys of gardening in the Wheatbelt.

Cross Stitch Easter Rabbit Freebie, Historical Places Place Mats, Homespun Magazine.

Happy Monday,

I just had to stitch this lovely freebie that Laura provided on her blog. Just perfect for Easter decorating.

It was stitched on 25 count white evenweave with  Cartier Bresson thread in colour 498.  I used the red fabric that it is sitting on below the white cotton lace and for the backing. Thanks so much Laura for the little pattern.

I have finished one set of place mats that I have been working on and got them into the post on Friday.
They were of old buildings here in Western Australia.

I used some Nutex Fabric for the borders which suited the embroidery designs perfectly.

I picked up the April  Homespun magazine last week. After I had posted about making Beau's Bag the magazine contacted me as they wanted to put it in the Readers Showcase page.Pretty excited to see it in there.

I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Easter and if you are travelling stay safe. Hope the bunny hops into your place.

"Church House Farm" Cross Stitch and finishing other people's UFO's."

I have been working on this beautiful cross stitch design the last two weeks. I love the simplicity of the design and the muted colours that are being used to stitch out the design.

 I have some flowers to add to the top row of stitching, then two more rows of Alphabets. After that there is the border and some back stitching. I am pretty sure that this is Brenda Keyes design which I found in a book that I ordered through our local library.

At sewing last month, one of the ladies brought in several of her machine embroidery blocks and projects that she no longer had a interest in owning.

 One of the other ladies volunteered to finish of this lady. Well she turned up at my  place the next day asking
 if I would finish it. All that needed doing was putting in the pink fabric that is behind the stitching and sewing around the block to finish it off.

So I can add a UFO that belongs to someone else to my list of completed items for this month.

 This runner was done in a different way than usual. The longer sides of the white fabric were sewing to the green outside fabric then the rest was folded  and sewn to form the shapes on the end then I sewed around the green fabric 1/4 inch from the edge. There is no wadding or pellon inside.
